Path two

The off-the-shelf alternative

Instead of a bespoke build, Kids on Track could launch on an established course platform. It's faster to get live and lower upfront — the trade-off is that the experience is less tailored, the branding is bounded by their templates, and the whole thing runs on someone else's platform with a monthly fee for as long as you use it.

Kajabi

14-day free trial

An all-in-one business platform: courses, sales pages, marketing funnels, email and community all under one roof. Strong if you want the whole commercial engine bundled together and don't want to stitch tools to each other.

  • Kickstarter$89/mo$71/mo billed annually
  • Basic$179/mo$143/mo billed annually
  • Growth$249/mo$199/mo billed annually
  • Pro$499/mo$399/mo billed annually

Billed monthly as shown; annual billing is roughly 20% cheaper.

LearnWorlds

30-day free trial

More course-focused than Kajabi, and notably strong on interactive learning — assessments, quizzes, certificates, interactive video and learner analytics. A better fit if the teaching experience matters more than the marketing suite.

  • Starter$29/mo+ $5 per course enrollment
  • Pro Trainer$99/moNo transaction fees
  • Learning Center$299/moNo transaction fees
  • EnterpriseCustom quotePriced on requirements

From Pro Trainer upwards there are no per-enrollment transaction fees.

These are the vendors' current published rates and are worth confirming directly before committing — platform pricing changes regularly.

A subscription isn't a finished site

Either platform still needs a proper setup built specifically for Kids on Track: branding the school so it looks like your business rather than a template, structuring the pages and course sections, configuring enrolment and email automations, wiring the navigation and links between everything, and loading the pilot course itself. None of that is included in the monthly plan — it's build work, and it's what I'd be doing.

  • Brand and visual setup to match Kids on Track
  • Page and course structure built out
  • Enrolment, email and automation flows configured
  • Pilot course produced and loaded

What it costs

$12,875 AUD

one-off setup and build, as a ballpark

Then, on top of that, the platform's own monthly plan from the pricing above — for as long as you keep using it. So the honest total for the off-the-shelf path is the build fee plus an ongoing subscription, not the subscription alone.

The trade-off

Capable platforms — inside their own limits.

Kajabi and LearnWorlds are genuinely good tools, but you work within their templates and their constraints. There's a ceiling on how far the design, the learner experience and the functionality can be pushed, and you don't get the creative or technical freedom a custom build gives you.

That said, this is not a compromise path. I've built hundreds of course sites and "schools" on platforms like these — it's proven, predictable and low-risk, and I can deliver it well.

My recommendation

Both paths are real. For Kids on Track, I'd go custom.

I'm happy to deliver either one, and I'd say so plainly if off-the-shelf were the better fit. But weighing the build fee plus an indefinite monthly subscription against a one-time custom build, the cost trade-off tips over time. Custom also gets you to something genuinely differentiated faster, because nothing has to be bent to fit a template — and at the end of it you own a platform built entirely around how Kids on Track works, rather than renting space inside someone else's.
